Why does bookkeeping matter for UAE companies?
The UAE introduced Value Added Tax at a standard rate of 5% in 2018, and corporate tax applies to financial years beginning on or after 1 June 2023. Under the corporate tax law, taxable income up to AED 375,000 is taxed at 0% and income above that at 9%. Both systems depend on complete, accurate records, which the Federal Tax Authority can ask to see. Clean books make filing straightforward for you or your tax agent and avoid penalties for poor record-keeping.
| Taxable income | Corporate tax rate |
|---|---|
| Up to AED 375,000 | 0% |
| Above AED 375,000 | 9% |
